About

Hello, We Are

JONES CREEK BAPTIST

Jones Creek Baptist exists to love God and to love our neighbors.
We see this as our purpose, based on the Great Commandment and the
Great Commission.

The Great Commandment in Matthew 22:36-40 says:
He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all
your soul, and with all your mind. , 38  This is the greatest and most
important command. 39  The second is like it: Love your neighbor as
yourself. , 40  All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.”

The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 says:
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in
heaven and on earth. 19  Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, 20  teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And

remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

We love God through worship and obedience. We love our neighbors
through ministry, discipleship, missions, and evangelism.
Jones Creek Baptist Church, under the Lordship of Christ and the
leadership of the Holy Spirit, exists for the purpose of glorifying God;
sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with persons in our community and
beyond; equipping believers for works of ministry and service; encouraging
one another; ministering to the needs of people in the Name of Christ.

What We Believe

It would be impossible to write a list of all the things we believe, except to say we believe the Bible. A fairly concise statement that defines and explains our essentials is the Baptist Faith and Message, as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 2000.

A very brief statement dealing with some of the most important doctrines is as follows:

The Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is His Word to us. God is the author, having worked through human “authors.” It is inerrant, infallible, and is the source of truth for Christian beliefs and living (“faith and practice”). Stating our belief about the Bible first does not imply that the Bible is as important as or more important than God. However, it is the source of our knowledge of God. What we believe about the Bible plays a vital role in what we believe about God and every other doctrine we hold. Psalm 119:9,11; 105; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20,21

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He is eternal and has existed eternally in three personalities: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Referred to as the Trinity, these three are co-equal and are one God. Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2 I Peter 1:2

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, “the word became flesh.” He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to pay for the sins of mankind, was buried and rose again on the third day. He ascended to Heaven and will one day return to the earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. No one knows the time of Christ’s return except for the Heavenly Father. Matthew 1:22,23; John 1:1-5, 11,12; I Corinthians 15:3,4

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives inside each Christian from the moment of salvation; to provide them with power for living, guide them into an understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives each believer a spiritual gift upon salvation. John 14:16-17, 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12,13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18.

Man (all human beings) was created in the image of God – to be like Him in character. They are the supreme object of His creation and His love. All are marked by sin – an attitude of disobedience toward God. Sin separates people from God and causes many other problems in life. The separation caused by sin ultimately leads to Hell. Genesis 1:27; chapter 3; Psalm 8:3-36; Isaiah 56:3; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23b

Salvation is God’s gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by good works or self- improvement. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from the penalty and power of sin. When we turn form our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment we receive Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23a; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 1:12; 14:16; Titus 3:5

Eternal Security is the knowledge that a believer has that once he has received eternal life through Christ, he cannot “fall from grace.” Eternal life begins when a person trusts Christ and continues throughout eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by our own efforts or desires. John 10:28; II Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; I Peter 1:3-5

Eternity is often used synonymously with Heaven. People were created to exist forever. We will either live eternally separated from God by sin or we will receive Christ and live with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally with God is eternal life and ends up in Heaven. Heaven and Hell are real places that will exist eternally. Matthew 1:8; 2:44,46; John 2:25; 3:16; 5:11-16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15
